Sovrano Estate was established in 2021 by the Loggia family, rooted in Italian tradition. Drawing together Marzia’s experience from her family in winemaking, and Andrea’s heritage in liqueurs, the estate aims to build a long-term legacy in the Bay of Islands region.
Formerly known as Ake Ake Vineyard, Sovrano has rebranded under its own name to reflect its wine, a growing portfolio of liqueurs, and its Italian restaurant onsite.

Atmosphere, Setting & Standout Features
Sovrano sits at 165 Waimate North Road, Kerikeri (postcode 0293), set in vineyard and scenic landscape.
- The environment blends vineyard charm and Italian influence: there’s a focus on craftsmanship (liqueur, wine), hand-zested lemons around limoncello, and a relaxed yet elegant dining setting.
- Menu prices are in the mid-“$$” range; value is often praised in reviews for generous portions and well-presented food.
- Sovrano Limoncello and its related products (liqueurs, creams, etc.) are crafted using fresh NZ ingredients, with attention to quality and tradition.
Who It Suits & What to Expect
If you enjoy wine, good liqueurs, and Italian inspired food in a setting that combines landscapes of Northland with family-driven authenticity, Sovrano is well worth a stop. For tourists, it’s a chance to taste something rooted in Italian tradition, but grown in Kerikeri terroir. Locals may appreciate the relaxed service, consistent food-and-wine pairing, and the ability to choose whether to dine midday or evening, or just visit the cellar door. It works well for lunches, dinners, small celebrations, or enjoying a quiet vineyard-side drink.
